Swing Dance Night: Valentine's Edition

Celebrate Valentine's Day with an evening of lively music and unforgettable dancing! Kick off the night with a beginner-friendly Lindy Hop lesson with Darcie Juarez, designed to get everyone moving together. Whether you're stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or you're a seasoned swing dancer, you'll learn the basics and be ready to dance with confidence in no time.

At 8 pm, the Rhythm Wrecker Dance Band takes the stage with their driving rhythms and timeless swing sound. Their high-energy performance will keep couples, friends, and solo dancers twirling, spinning, and smiling all night long. 

Come with your sweetheart, bring your friends, or make new connections—no partner is required! 

Enjoy refreshments available for purchase from Danu Wines, including wine and delicious treats. Fall in love with the music and dance the night away! Doors open at 6:45 pm. Dance lesson starts at 7 pm and band starts at 8 pm.

Founded in 2020, the Rhythm Wrecker Dance Band is a Portland, Oregon–based ensemble bringing the energy of swing, jump blues, and vintage rock n’ roll to modern audiences. Formed by dancers from Portland’s swing scene, the band emphasizes a driving, danceable groove suited for lindy hop, balboa, and social swing. Inspired by great swing-era bandleaders, the group honors swing as both a joyful, high-energy art form and a unifying force—music that brings people together and keeps the dance floor alive.

More about Darcie Juarez

Darcie has been dancing in Portland since 2016. She first learned to swing out in Phoenix in 2006 and has been inexorably drawn to the music, the dance, and the community ever since. She’s passionate about individual expression and musicality and tries hard to advocate for these qualities in every dance and every lesson. Darcie dances lindy hop, balboa, and solo jazz with great joy and is cautiously optimistic about collegiate shag (in small doses). You can find her at all kinds of dances in Portland as well as teaching at The Viscount Dance Studio.

$5 Arts for All tickets are available for individuals enrolled in the Oregon Trail Card or SNAP program. Individuals can purchase a maximum of 2 tickets per show. Tickets are limited per show.
