Experience an evening of mythological stories narrated by dancers from Rhythms Dance Academy through the graceful artistry and expression of classical Kathak dance from North India. Witness the power of Goddess Shakti who manifests herself in every girl as a powerhouse of positivity as she slays demonic forces both inside and outside. Behold the grandeur of the Cosmic dancer Nataraja, the Lord of dance who holds the moon and the stars on his head.
Enjoy the story of Sweet Krishna as he defeats the multiheaded serpent Kaliya, symbolizing the triumph of Godliness over the five vices of life: lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego. Listen to the journey of River Ganges from the Heavens to Earth and how she travels the three stages of River ending with an illuminated dance performance.

As a recipient of a City of Hillsboro Performance Series Grant, this performance directly supports the Rhythms Dance Academy, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Immigrant Story.
More About Rhythms Dance Academy
Dedicated to cultivating well-rounded dancers, Rhythms Dance Academy specializes in the graceful artistry of Kathak, a classical Indian dance form. Academy dancers have been performing in the Portland area for more than ten years, winning several dance competition trophies and inspiring audiences across the region. The dancers in this show are high school students who have been dancing since they were five years old. Each has completed their dance graduation and a certification course from the Sanchita Dance Foundation in India. They have performed on innumerable stages internationally, most recently at the International Day event in Hillsboro.
